Coach: Ryan Palmer (Seventh year)
Class: C; Conference: MVC
Last year’s record: 11-7 (Lost in Class C South quarterfinals)
Returning athletes: Seniors — Bryce Whittemore (C), Mason Corriveau (P/3B); Juniors — Luke Lueders (P/SS), Cooper Chiasson (P/3B), Cameron Turner (P/OF); Sophomore — Jeremy St. Germain (1B).
Key losses: Gavin Arsenault, Gus Brown, Riley Robinson, Barry Campbell.
Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Quinton Penley (OF), Jacob Gaudin (OF), Tucker Olsen (2B), Sam Holmes (Util); Freshman — Chase Clark (1B).
Season outlook: The Cougars will look a little different but will still be a factor in Class C South this year. Pitching will be more of a group effort. As opposed to relying on one or two horses to win the big games, they will look for help out of the bullpen. That puts more pressure on the offense, which should be capable of scratching out the runs it needs on most days. Palmer expects a strong defense to help out the pitching staff, too.
