While most fans were ducking from a foul ball, Ben Gallant of Winthrop reached out to catch it during a softball game between Monmouth Academy and Sacopee Valley High School in Hiram on Thursday afternoon. He was at the academy to watch his granddaughter, Julia Johnson, and her teammates play.
