LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen and interim Town Manager Stephen J. Gould on Tuesday discussed problems that have appeared during the fire station renovation.

Electrical panels in the back of one bay needed to be torn out because the wall was taken down and Gould said if they can’t be put back “we’ll have to go with new panels.”

He said he requested a price for new panels, but didn’t have it yet.

The Fire Station will need an oil/water separator, which will cost $3,250 and must be placed underground.

“We want to have it where you can park vehicles and not have to worry about it,” Gould said.

“I thought that the tank was going to go inside the station,” Fire Chief Edward Hastings IV said.

The tank will need to be pumped out periodically, he said.

The floor in the meeting room has no moisture barrier under it, Gould said. A floor contractor for H.E. Callahan said it will be expensive and time-consuming to seal the floor if there is a moisture problem.

Gould said if there was going to be a moisture problem, it would have appeared long before now, and the floor appears to be in good shape.

In other business, selectmen opened bids for a new police cruiser to replace a 2011 model. Bids were:

• $29,700 for a 2017 or 2018 vehicle from Rowe Auburn, with a trade-in of $2,000 for the old cruiser;

• $26,220 for a 2017 vehicle and $29,200 for a 2018 vehicle from Quirk Ford of Augusta, with a trade-in of $1,764; and

• $29,645 for a 2018 vehicle from Bailey Brothers Ford of Livermore Falls, with a trade-in of $800.

Selectmen are expected to made a decision at their meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Town Office.

AndroPay has created bookkeeping problems for Town Office employees, and selectmen voted to eliminate it effective Jan. 1, 2018. The system allows people to pay their bills with a credit or debit card, with a charge of nearly $4 for using it.
