A street sweeper owned by Cousineau Inc. in Wilton and driven by Samuel Ramsdell, 29, of Jay, received minimal damage Tuesday afternoon when it went off Keep Road in North Jay and struck a tree, Police Chief Richard Caton IV said.

JAY — A street sweeper driven by a local man went off Keep Road in North Jay and hit a tree Tuesday afternoon, Police Chief Richard Caton IV said.

Samuel Ramsdell, 29, was taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington as a precaution.

Ramsdell was heading to Jay in a sweeper owned by Cousineau Inc. of Wilton to clean up after a company job, Caton said. The sweeper went into the opposite lane and off the road at about 2:44 p.m. and received minimal damage.

Keep Road is off Route 17. 

The accident is under investigation.

Officer Dylan Rider was assisted by Caton, Wilton officer Ethan Kyes and Jay Fire Rescue Department.
