FARMINGTON — A local man accused of selling marijuana and hashish this past spring and summer was indicted Wednesday on drug charges.

Christopher Lee Walker, 39, of Farmington was officially charged on two counts of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs and one count of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug on or between June 8 and Aug. 1.

A conviction on the trafficking charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000; the unlawful possession charge carries a sentence of up to 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

Farmington police assisted by state police executed a search warrant at Walker’s residence Aug. 1 at Knowlton Corner Road in relation to drug trafficking and a prohibited person being in possession of a firearm, Farmington Detective Darin Gilbert wrote in an affidavit filed with the court.

Police discovered more than 11 pounds of marijuana at the residence, which exceeds the 2½ ounce standard allowed under the recreational law, Gilbert wrote.

Over 2 pounds of marijuana was in bud and usable form and the additional 9 pounds were in leaf form, according to the affidavit.

“Both of these substances were tested and had a presumptive positive test for THC/marijuana,” Gilbert wrote. “There was over 16 flowering or ‘budding’ plants located in the basement exceeding the six flowering or ‘budding’ plants allowed under the recreational or medical marijuana law.”

Police also found more than 90 grams of hash at the residence, according to the affidavit, and six pills of Adderall.

“We also located multiple ‘dabs’ or hash products packaged in a manner commonly used for the purposes for sale and distribution,” Gilbert wrote.

Adderall is a prescription medication used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. 

Walker was arrested Aug. 2 and posted $1,500 cash bail the same day to be released from the Franklin County Detention Center.
