LEWISTON — Louise M. DiMaggio, 84, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side Tuesday, Nov. 21. She was born in Boston on July 10, 1933, the daughter of the late Redmond and Louise (Higgins) Alward.

Louise would tell anyone that the most important thing in her life were her six children. She was widowed at the age of 35. She raised her six children and a grandson, Redmond. She was a lunch monitor at the James W. Hennigan school in Jamaica Plain, Mass., and cooked for the Auburn School Department. She loved music, dancing, cooking, traveling and the ocean was her favorite place to visit. Louise was proud to be an Irish Catholic and St. Patrick’s Day was her favorite holiday. Her favorite saint was St. Therese, the little flower.

Louise is survived by her two sons, Ronald J. Alward and Richard K. DiMaggio; four daughters, Darlene L. Alward, Domenica I. Rivera, Jonnie Rose Clark and husband, Mark, and Letteria A. DiMaggio; her grandchildren, Stephanie L. DiMaggio, Redmond J. Alward, Jessica L. Lamothe, Isaiah Cruz, Richard Alward, Letteria A. Pagan, Noel O. Pagan, Johnathan E. Clark, Domenic D. Pagan, Sarah A. Clark and Victoria A. Perex and Bianca R. Perez; her 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews; and companion, Martin Ford.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Domenic S. DiMaggio; companion for 23 years, Thomas F. James; her siblings, Helen Allanbrook, Frederick Stark, James Alward, Katherine Hardy and Josephine Cuneo.

Special thanks to Lana Herring of Health Affiliates of Maine, special friend, Judy Emenger, and friend/neighbor, Jennifer Lemey, and Dr. Lise Cloutier and CMMC staff for all of the love and care given to our mom.
