Rumford Senior Center closed to flu
PERU — The Rumford Senior Center is closed due to the flu and other illnesses.
The center will resume all activities on Monday, March 5.

AL Auxiliary to host Country Jamboree
DIXFIELD — The Dixfield American Legion Auxiliary will hold a Country Jamboree from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Dixfield American Legion Hall.
The event will feature Down the Dirt Road Band and others. Admission will be $5.
There will be concessions for sale and a 50/50 raffle.
Gold LEAF Senior College spring kick-off
FARMINGTON — The Gold LEAF Institute Senior College at the University of Maine Farmington will host the kick-off of its spring term on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the UMF Olsen Student Center, North Dining Hall, 111 South St. The program will run from 3 to 4 p.m.; course registration will take place from 4 to 5 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Gold LEAF is a member-run organization that promotes lifelong learning. Membership is open to anyone 50 or older and to spouse/partner regardless of age.

Rumford library to explore STEM program
RUMFORD — Rumford Public Library will host an hour of STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.
STEM exposes students to four specific disciplines and helps them to develop a passion for learning and hopefully pursue a job in the STEM fields.
Participants will conduct experiments, explore STEM concepts and work together to understand the world. There may be gum drops and rockets involved. Lab coats are not required. All area children are welcome.
Library to screen ‘DeFoe’s Way’
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — There will be a showing of the film “DeFoe’s Way” in the Carrabassett Valley Public Library & Community Center Begin Family Community Room at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.
