FRYEBURG — Marceline Webber McKeen peacefully passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Fryeburg Health Care Center.

She was born in Freeport to Ellen and Robert Webber. Marcy grew up in Freeport and attended Freeport schools while studying piano. She graduated from Westbrook Jr. College with a teaching degree, and moved to West Paris where she taught school for a number of years.

In 1951, she married her husband, Walter A. McKeen, and settled in West Paris. Marcy wanted nothing more than to become a mother, and what a wonderful mother she was to her four children. She is remembered by her children as a beautiful, happy mother, who often sang and played piano throughout the day. She rocked and sang her children to sleep, read them stories and allowed them to be creative with many activities, such as making homemade play dough, teaching them to cook or just playing in the dirt, even though it made a mess. As the children matured, she encouraged all their interests and assured them that they were capable of becoming whatever they wanted to be, saying, “Anything is possible.”

She later had five grandchildren who wanted nothing more than to go to Grammy’s. Marcy was an excellent cook and baker, always making homemade meals and desserts that were delicious and healthy. She additionally taught piano lessons a few days a week when her children were older.

After her children were grown, Marcy worked at some local banks but found her passion when she began working at Orphan Annie’s Antique shop in Auburn. She and Walter began an exciting new hobby buying and selling antiques. They enjoyed traveling around looking for “goodies” and meeting new people. They learned as they went along, and everyone always felt welcome to come to their house to shop for antiques or to come into the kitchen and sit by the wood stove while Marcy put on a fresh pot of coffee and served it with a slice of homemade pie.

Marcy is survived by her sister, Maxine Duffy, of Portland; daughter, Deborah, and husband, Steve Brown, of Fryeburg; daughter, Susan McKeen, and partner, Glen Anger, of South Portland; five grandchildren, Nova Wright, Rena Wright Sanborn, Isaac Wilkins, Marcy Olson and Ted Olson; and two great-grandchildren, Layla and Silas Sanborn.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; her son, Joe; and daughter, Betsy.
