MINOT — The Board of Selectmen announced Monday that they have hired a local resident as town administrator.

Danielle Loring, region coordinator of Suburban Propane in the Portland area since December 2015, will begin her new job May 21.

Loring was director of development for Raymond from June 2014 to December 2015, and the town’s executive assistant from July 2010 to December 2015, according to her Linkedin page.

She has bachelor’s degrees in criminology and biology from the University of Southern Maine.

She will meet with town employees and officials Tuesday, May 1, at the Town Office.

Loring will succeed Arlan Saunders, who announced in December that he was resigning but has not given his official end date.

Also Monday, the board discussed a resident’s request to build a 12- by 26-foot tiny house, which would not meet the town’s required footprint of more than 500 square feet for a house.

The Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code allows houses with a footprint of 120 square feet in towns of fewer than 4,000 residents.

As of the 201o Census, Minot’s population was 2,607.

Minot can choose to override the state’s code.

The board was split on whether to permit the building and decided to send it to the Planning Board meeting Tuesday, May 1. Code Enforcement Officer Ken Pratt will present his findings then.

In other business, the board reappointed Candace Gilpatric as chairwoman of the Planning Board and James Brown as vice chairman.

Saunders also announced that Highway Department Supervisor Scott Parker plans to begin sweeping roads and intersections Wednesday, May 2.
