LEWISTON — Organist Thomas Fielding will headline the opening concert of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul’s “Concerts at the Basilica” season.

He will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 15.

Fielding is director of music and liturgy at St. Augustine Cathedral in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and an award-winning performer and composer. He has performed on some of the world’s finest instruments, including the Grand Organ of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Fielding will perform works by Bach, Widor, Franck and Langlais.

The Basilica’s Casavant organ, the largest church organ in Maine, is the centerpiece for the annual concert series that extends through October.

The series is divided between Wednesday noon concerts and evening performances. The noon concerts begin July 11 and extend weekly through Aug. 8. Evening concerts are scheduled through Oct. 4.

The concert series is supported, in part, by The Saints Peter and Paul Society. Concerts are free and open to the public and donations to the organ restoration project are welcome.
