WINCHESTER, Mass. — Margaret M. Ellis passed away July 15 in Winchester Nursing Center, Mass. She was a year-round resident of Rangeley for many years and loved the town. Margaret was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, grew up in Long Beach, Calif., and joined the Coast Guard in 1943 serving in World War II. She married William N. Ellis of Rangeley in 1948 and spent her adult years living all over the country & world, finally settling in Rangeley in 1977.
Margaret enjoyed visiting with neighbors on her porch or at the kitchen table, traveling around the world, gourmet cooking, reading, knitting, word puzzles and being with her family. She is survived by her children, in-laws and grandchildren: Kathi; Reed, Ursula & Nick; Peggy, David, Lindsey & Casey; Britt, Shari, Samantha & Leighann.
The family would like to thank the wonderful support and care Margaret got from her friends and neighbors in Rangeley over the last few years, and the nursing care at both Sandy River and Winchester Nursing Center.
