TURNER – , 54, a resident of Turner, passed away peacefully, Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at his home of natural causes.  He was born Feb. 28, 1964, in Augusta, the son of Malcolm L. Casey and Nancy (Jack) Casey.

He was a 1982 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. He was selected in 1981 as state all-star for high school basketball and in 1982 as state all-star and all-American for high school football. Peter received his B.S. in Business Administration, University of Maine Orono in 1986. Peter was an Outside Linebacker and Letterman for U Maine Black Bear Football Team from 1982-1986. Peter was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and looked forward to seeing his fraternal brothers each year at homecoming.

In 1994 he won two ADFPA “drug free” powerlifting titles and was also a certified YMCA trainer. He was also involved with high school student athletes on weight training and dangers of anabolic steroids.

He was a 1989 graduate of Pat Ryan & Associates-Automobile Finance & Insurance Management and received his certificate for Commercial Union Personal and Commercial lines for Agents in 1990.  Peter entered the insurance industry in 1991 when he joined the family business at Sturtevant & Ham Insurance (one of Maines’ oldest insurance agency) in Livermore Falls.  He started as a property and casualty agent in 1991 and became manager and owner in 1993.  Pete joined forces with Northeast Bank Insurance Group late in 2006 when Northeast purchased Sturtevant & Ham. Peter was currently serving as Vice President, Commercial Insurance at USI Insurance Company in South Portland. He took great pride in offering superior service and insurance knowledge to his clients by listening to their particular wants, needs and concerns, and worked in a professional manner to achieve those goals.

On May 5, 1998 in Auburn, Peter married his wife of 20 years, Tammy M. Morrill and they later became the proud parents of their daughter Mallory and son Thomas.  He and his family enjoyed traveling, playing basketball, tennis, golf and spending time with his family and friends at their pool in the summer. His greatest joy was coaching his children in their various sports. He was passionate about the Leavitt Area High School Football Team, he dedicated many hours as a volunteer coach and especially loved watching the football players excel in the weight room and onto the field.  In the off season he loved watching his daughter play softball, especially her big stretch catches at 1st base. He was extremely proud of both of his children and their accomplishments. Peter never met anyone he didn’t consider a friend.  His personality filled a room with warmth and kindness.  He loved people.  Peter was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend and will be greatly missed by those that knew him.

He is survived by his wife Tammy Casey and their children, Mallory and Thomas all of Turner, his brother Jack Casey of Gardiner and sister, Margaret Leclerc of Livermore Falls; nieces and nephews, Tori, Jake, Jennifer and Rebecca. He was predeceased by his parents Malcolm and Nancy Casey.
