A Hereford cow stands beside Route 133 in Jay on Thursday after wandering away from its owner, Animal Control Officer Larry Wright said Thursday evening. The cow is part of a herd that was sold recently, he said, and by Thursday evening was being enticed into a nearby cattle trailer stocked with grain and hay. “It’s being fed well,” Knight said, and is expected to be hoofing it home soon. He did not identify the owner. Police received reports about the animal for the past two days. Donna M. Perry/Sun Journal
