Thompson spent her internship shadowing senators and staff, attending legislative meetings, supporting senators at in-district events and learning what senators and staff do every day in the State House. “It has been so interesting to witness and become a part of the behind-the-scenes work that occurs within the Maine Legislature,” said Thompson. “I’ve definitely deepened my understanding of the legislative process throughout the semester.” Bellows said, “Alyssa approached her internship with a willingness to learn and try new things, and she excelled in the role.”
