Amanda Retus is the featured artist in the Auburn Gritty’s “Art and Ale” window for June at 68 Main St., Auburn.

Retus, originally from Needham, Massachusetts, has lived in Maine since 2000.

“As a child, I had a dream that I was painting in Paris, France. I never forgot the feel of the brush strokes and have started to recreate that feeling with my art today. This series captures the beauty of nature, real and imagined, that I encounter on my weekend drives,” said Retus, according to a news release from Wicked Illustrations.

She works primarily in acrylic and also enjoys watercolor, oil paint and oil pastel.

She is a student at Wicked Illustrations Studio and Gallery in Lewiston. To purchase artwork, email wickedillustrations@gmail.com. To learn more about Wicked or showing artwork, check wickedillustrations.com.
