I ask Lewiston residents to join me in voting for Carl Sheline to be the city’s next mayor.
I was impressed by Carl and his thoughtfulness during presentations before the Lewiston City Council when I represented Ward 1.
I have just had conversations with Carl on two very important issues, and his responses have made this endorsement possible. First, is his strong support for a barrier-free homeless shelter in Lewiston, knowing that issues such as where it is located and how it is paid for need to be resolved.
Second, is his support for a comprehensive plan to address the substance use disorder crisis in Lewiston. He realizes that just arresting people is not the answer. Instead, he believes getting them the resources they need that leads to a path to recovery is a much better approach.
Carl will make a fine mayor, in my opinion.
