The Auburn Public Library is scheduled to offer an informative webinar presented by Emily Dooling-Hamilton, tobacco prevention specialist at Healthy Androscoggin, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, via Zoom.
Her presentation will include education on e-cigarettes/vaping, statistics of teen e-cigarette/vaping use in Maine, the targeting of youth by media, public health consequences, and resources.
Dooling-Hamilton has a masters degree in health promotion and disease prevention and has been with Healthy Androscoggin since 2010. She aims for individuals who are interested in quitting to have the resources and information they need. Healthy Androscoggin aims to create a community of thriving residents by giving individuals tools to live a healthy life.
This program is presented to commemorate the Great American Smokeout on Nov. 18. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the event takes place each year on the third Thursday in November.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
