DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping you can help or ask your readers for help refreshing my memory. When I was a child in the late 1970s and early 1980s there was a Chinese restaurant at 1103 Lisbon St. in Lewiston. I used to go there with my mom and brother but not one of us can remember the name of it.

After it closed (I don’t remember the year), the building remained and a Wendy’s opened in that building. That Wendy’s has since closed, the building was torn down, and a convenience store now stands in its place. Can you help in finding the name of that Chinese restaurant? Exhaustive online searches have turned up nothing going back past when Wendy’s was there so I’m hoping a reader might remember the place. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: That is before my time and you are right, searching online didn’t help. I arrived on the scene in the 1980s and our family loved Shangri-La, that I think used to be at 1675 Lisbon St. It was very fancy and had a huge aquarium. Going there was a really special treat. I don’t think that’s the restaurant you’re looking for though.

So I’m depending on my readers who have lived in the area a long time for the answer to this one. I can’t wait to hear what our readers have to say — I’m sure you’ll have your answer in no time!

And now I’m hungry for Chinese food.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are coming to you as usual for some much needed advice because you always come through. My husband’s computer was compromised so we would like your knowledge of who to call. The Geek Squad comes to mind first. We live near the Auburn-Lewiston area and it would be nice to find someone there. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all that you do every day! — Karen, Hebron

ANSWER: I have nothing against the Geek Squad and have had positive experiences with them but there is a wealth of computer help for you nearby! I have worked with some of these folks and have spoken with all of them. I feel comfortable recommending them all.

In the Rolodex I have Angela Carter in Greene (https://angelascms.com/, J.Angela.Carter@angelacms.com), 520-9573; ACS—Action Computer Services in Lewiston (https://www.acs4u.com/, 786-8740; and Buck Buchanan at PCS—Professional Computer Services (http://pro-pc.us/,Buck@pro-pc.us, 784-6295.

Readers, if you have other computer tech people you want to recommend, now is the time to do it.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: To grind nuts, I do not wet them. I use a coffee grinder then add them to a recipe. — Gabrielle, Lewiston

ANSWER: Thanks for that tip that goes along with the reader in March 10 Sun Spots who wants to make cashew cream. The nuts do have to be soaked first for that recipe. However, your method is a good one. I have a designated coffee grinder for nuts, seeds and herbs. It works particularly well for flax seed and almonds.
