Barbara A. Shaw

LEWISTON – Barbara A. Shaw, 85, of Auburn, passed away Monday afternoon June 27, 2022 at CMMC with her family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston May 19, 1937, one of nine children born to William and Catherine (Harden) Greaton. Barbara was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in the class of 1956. She remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On July 5, 1958, she married Charles E. Shaw and together they settled in Auburn to raise their children. He predeceased her on Nov. 2, 2016. Barbara worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Lewiston Supply and then W.D. Matthews until her retirement.

Among her favorite enjoyments were attending all of her kid’s sporting and music events during their youth. She especially loved volunteering for the Edward Little High School band. She also enjoyed watching television game shows, playing card games with family and the company and companionship of her two beloved dogs, Corey and Lucky.

Her most precious moments were the special times spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several family vacations, including Disney World and trips to North Conway, N.H. Barbara was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her three children, Debbie Shennett of Auburn, Steven Shaw and wife Kathleen of Lewiston and Michael Shaw and wife Tomika of Weymouth, Mass.; her seven grandchildren, Matthew Shaw, Ryan Shaw and wife Ashley, Tyler Shennett and fiancée Kaylyn, Brian Shaw, Faith Shaw, Andrew Shaw, and Megan Shaw; two great-grandsons, Jensen and Easton Shaw; two sisters, Shirley Hunt of Auburn and Connie Robinson and husband Tom, also of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; six brothers and sisters, Rebecca Leonard, William Greaton Jr., Phillip, Richard, Robert and Allen Greaton; and her two dogs, Corey and Lucky.

Visitation Fortin Group / Auburn, Tuesday July 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral in the funeral home at 12 p.m. Committal to follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
