100 Years Ago: 1922

At the Strand Theater every Tuesday at five o’clock, Harry Rodgers, the organist and chairman of the local music memory contest is to give a short recital, which will be composed of all the pieces which will have been studied in the contest to that date.

50 Years Ago: 1972

JCC members will enjoy a slice of nostalgia at an unusual social evening at the College Street center Saturday. Music of the forties, the fifties and the sixties will be enjoyed by the dancers in the group. Films of center activities taken in the fifties will be shown along with Charlie Chaplin and W. C. Fields films. An ice cream parlor-beer hall atmosphere is planned by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Feldman, co-chairmen of Nostalgia Night, who are members of the Adult Social Committee of which Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Tetenman are co-chairmen.

25 Years Ago: 1997

The Boy Singers of Maine, under the direction of Jaye Churchill, has recently accepted Colin Britt of Lewiston to join the group. He will sing with both the Concert Choir and the Chamber Group. Membership in the Boy Singers of Maine is reserved for musically gifted boys ages 8 and up. Boychoir membership promotes the development of poise, self-confidence, self-control, peer support and friendship. The Boy Singers have attained a professional reputation for which they were granted the honor of an audience at the White House with President and Mrs. Clinton following the inaugural ceremonies. The boys have also performed throughout the United States and Canada.
