100 Years Ago: 1922

The fair held at the Court St. Baptist Church Wednesday was successfully brought to a close last evening. It was held under the supervision of the Ladies Social Circle, of which Mrs. L. W. Boies is president.

50 Years Ago: 1972

(from a Dec. 6 Sun-Journal photo) More than 40 original watercolor paintings will be exhibited by Joyce Coyne, left, and Marj DiRenzo, right, both of Auburn, from Dec. 7-21 at the Topsham Fair Mall, Suite No. 24. They will be among 20 members of the Merrymeeting Art Association displaying works at the annual holiday art show and sale from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. On Wednesday DiRenzo, art teacher with the Lewiston Adult Education program, will do silhouette cuttings. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities.

25 Years Ago: 1997

The Woman’s Hospital Association 13th annual Tree of Love campaign has started, and lights are $5 each. All proceeds will benefit the Cancer Care Immediate Needs Fund. The tree lighting will be 4 p.m. Sunday. FMI or to purchase a light, call the WHA office or Barbara Murray, Judy Worden, or Angela White.
