The newest tenant at Lewiston Mall on Lisbon Street is hoping to lure cornhole enthusiasts to the area’s first official cornhole sports bar and grill. Plans are to fill the massive 9,000-square-foot space with seven boards, a retail pro shop, restaurant seating, bar and a stage for live music and events.

Co-owner Tyler Babb said the pro shop will sell memorabilia, T-shirts, cornhole bags and cornhole boards. “One of the things that’s really unique is the boards that we’re going to be selling are the boards that you’re going to be using in the cornhole area, so you can play before you buy,” he said.

Babb and his partner Aaron Daigle have started renovations and hope to have Sliders Sports Pub open by mid-August in the former B&K Buffet space. However, they said they are fully aware of the realities of the hurdles facing a startup business, even though this is their first experience with that.

The entrepreneurs have ambitious plans for the hours of the new venue, targeting 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with an even earlier start on the weekend to capture the brunch crowd. The plan is to have a full liquor license and premium sliders such as smash burgers, fried chicken and pulled pork.

“I’m just really excited to open and I personally know the cornhole community is super large in this area and in New England in general,” Babb said. “I’m just looking forward to giving the the community a new place to go and have a healthy competition as well.”
