OTISFIELD — A former candidate for the Maine Legislature was in critical condition Thursday after being struck while jogging on Route 121 near her home.

Jennifer Blastow

Jennifer Blastow, 51, of Otisfield, a nurse practitioner, was jogging shortly before 6:30 a.m. near the 300 block of the state highway when she was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Everett Hall, 56, of Otisfield, Chief Deputy James Urquhart of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Thursday afternoon.

Hall was driving south while Blastow was running north, he said.

Blastow was initially transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with life-threatening injuries before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland in critical condition, Urquhart said.

Route 121 was closed for several hours while deputies investigated the accident.

The truck was towed from the scene, and Hall is cooperating with investigators, Urquhart said.

He added that investigators do not believe the crash was caused by impairment, speed or driver inattention. Visibility was poor at the time due to lighting conditions and lights of oncoming vehicles, Urquhart said.

Blastow was a Democratic candidate for Maine House District 72 in 2020, and lost to Kathleen Jackson Dillingham.
