I agree with Lewiston code enforcement’s decision to inspect DaVinci’s, and then DaVinci’s decision to shut down voluntarily.

As a graduate of The Thompson School of hotel and restaurant management and ex-restauranteur, I was taught the public health comes first. The removal of the head of code enforcement by elected politicians shows me that this is political. What’s next, getting rid of the building inspectors?

I went to a restaurant in Lewiston on Feb. 4 and ordered a couple of gyros, paid, and then started to watch them being made. Within five feet of the grill were two men running a grinder and multi-tool, creating dust. So, I started to look around and found this place to be a pig sty.

I told them I wanted my money back, and why. They didn’t want to, so I had to get even more persuasive and finally got my money back.

If the city of Lewiston wants to bring back great businesses and restaurants, maybe the politicians should stop meddling in stuff they have no clue about, and work to fix lower Lisbon Street. The area was improving many years ago, but now looks tired and worn again.

The city should fix the parking along all of Lisbon Street, or maybe close it completely. That might make it more user friendly for businesses and shoppers.
