100 Years Ago: 1924

Miss Elaine Stephens, Edward Little High School, class of ’24, will hold a violin recital at the Philharmonic Studio, Main St. Auburn at 8 o’clock on Thursday evening. She will be assisted by Edward Ransom, tenor and Miss Enna Bolduc, flute, with Miss Priscilla Alden and Mrs. Gladys Pitcher Sleeper, accompanists.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Miss Lynelle Elworth of Johannesburg, South Africa addressed members of the Lewiston-Auburn BusinessWomen’s and Professional Business Club at a recent meeting.

She talked about the country, it’s people and changes being brought by modern ideas.

Miss Elworth is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lecompte and their daughter, Linda, while attending Lewiston Comprehensive High School. She hopes to become an XRay technician. At the close of her talk she was presented a fit by Miss Lynch on behalf of the club.

25 Years Ago: 1999

The Meddiebempsters, the all-male singing group from Bowdoin College, is ready to hit the hardwood in prime time.

The 13-member group, which sings a cappella, will perform Friday night at the Fleet Center before the Boston Celtics take the floor against the Denver Nuggets.

The appearance is the Meddiebempsters biggest since early 1993, when the group sang at President Clinton’s inauguration.
