The Better Living Center in Farmington has opened a new store in Lisbon. Owner Wayne Drake said the idea is to offer customers a healthy alternative for their food shopping.

Drake and his team have been readying the space at a long-abandoned gas station at 686 Lisbon St., next to Lisbon House of Pizza. It’s smaller than the original natural food store in Farmington, which Drake purchased in 2020, and which has been in business in Franklin County since 1973.

Just two weeks after opening the doors, Drake is steadily stocking the store and adding products as he goes. Better Living Center offers organic and natural health foods, vitamins, fresh produce sourced locally when possible, spices, pastas, baking ingredients, bulk grains and Jocko energy drinks, made in Farmington.

Better Living Center is partnering with local baker Darlin’ Farms to provide fresh sourdough, bagels, cinnamon rolls and more. Soups are made daily and offered to go.

“The intent is to become a full-service, independent health food store,” Drake told The Buzz on Monday.

Store hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also find them on social media.
