Lucas Barstow of Gould Academy and Clara White of Orono won the Sassi Memorial Nordic ski races on Saturday at Black Mountain in Rumford.
Barstow won the boys 5-kilometer freestyle in a time of 12 minutes, 8.02 seconds. Alden Reardon of Fort Kent was second in 12:31.8, followed by Beckett Cote of Messalonskee, Henri McCourt of Mt. Blue and Will Brown of Gould.
White was the girls champion in 14:20.5. Kate Carlson of Gould placed second in 14:34.9, followed by Nora McCourt of Mt. Blue, Maya Kellett of Mt. Blue and Reese Furneaux of Gould.
BOYS BASKETBALL
BUCKFIELD 58, VINALHAVEN 37: Trenton Haskell scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half, and the Bucks (6-9) built a 34-16 lead on the way to a win over the Vikings (1-9) in Buckfield.
Krosby Harvey and Gaven Parsons each added 10 points.
Hunter Hamilton scored 19 points and Aiden Boody had 14 for Vinalhaven.
RANGELEY 57, NORTH HAVEN 26: Dakota Lemoine had 12 points to lift the Lakers (4-10) past the Hawks (0-13) in North Haven.
Brayden Thompson and Maddox Grey each had 10 points for Rangeley.
Caden Cabot and Erza Davisson had seven each for North Haven.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
HALL-DALE 49, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 39: Marie Benoit poured in 27 points to lead the Bulldogs (12-3) past the Mustangs (9-6) in Monmouth.
Sierra Gibbons also reached double figures for Hall-Dale, finishing with 11 points.
Kaitlyn Frost scored 14 points for Monmouth, which had a five-game winning streak snapped.
OAK HILL 63, LISBON 31: Mackenzee Wardwell scored 15 of her 23 points in the second half as the Raiders (3-13) broke open a close game against the Greyhounds (0-16) in Wales.
Brennah McElhaney added 10 points for Oak Hill, which trailed 15-10 after one quarter and led 25-21 at halftime.
Hannah Perron paced Lisbon with 20 points.
WRESTLING
MOUNTAIN VALLEY CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP: Six wrestlers from Dirigio won individual titles and the Cougars captured the Mountain Valley Conference championship in Dixfield.
Dirigo finished with 202.5 points, easily beating second-place Monmouth/Richmond, which finished with 153.5. Mountain Valley was third with 150 points, followed by Madison (138.5) and Lisbon/Oak Hill (85.
Caiden Skidgell (138 pounds), Leighton Waite (144), Kaeden Swan (150), Hudson Lufkin (157), Tanner Bradeen (165) and Gio Patterson (190) were individual champs for the Cougars. Vinny Chapman was a runner-up at 113 pounds.
Carter Rand (132) and Tate Taylor (215) won individual titles for Monmouth. Braden Mckenzie (175), Isaiah Trott (285), Nathan Lewis (190), Noah Schultz (157) and Samuel Schultz (150) were all runners-up.
GIRLS HOCKEY
EDWARD LITTLE 9, GREELY 0: Leksi Langevin scored four goals and assisted on two others as Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Monmouth (9-4-2) defeated Greely/Gray-New Gloucester (0-15) at Family Ice Center in Falmouth.
Avery Cologna added two goals and an assist, and Adalyn Martin and Adeline Langan also scored for the Red Hornets. Paige Fecteau made nine saves for the shutout.
Rangers goalie Charley Louie stopped 38 shots.
BOYS HOCKEY
EDWARD LITTLE 3, GREELY 1: Andrew Clements scored twice to lead the Red Eddies (4-8) over the Rangers (1-10) at Family Ice Center in Falmouth.
Goals by Clements and Joey Samson gave EL a 2-0 lead after one period. Clements made it 3-0 in the second period.
Mitchell Lambert ended Caden Westhoven’s shutout bid early in the third.
