DEAR SUN SPOTS: After many years of planning and hard work, Trinity Jubilee Center’s new home at 123 Bates St. is complete. Now comes the stressful part: moving! Please bear with us for the rest of January as we start moving supplies and programs. Here’s the schedule at our current building at 53 Spruce St.
Free Clinic: Closed 1/28. Day Shelter: Expected to close 1/28. Job applications and other office help: Expected to close 1/28. If you have an appointment before then we can likely help you over the phone.
There are still some supplies needed: if you would like to donate chairs, sheet pans, tables, or other essentials, please see our Amazon wish list at https://a.co/9KS5EMb .
Thank you for your patience. Our new building opens in February! — No name, Lewiston
ANSWER: This is such exciting news and I’m happy to be sharing it. Items on the center’s wish list include metal folding chairs and tables, rubber floor mats, bakeware and cookware. If you would like to buddy up with friends and family members to pay for some of the larger items on their Amazon wish list, it would be such a godsend to this organization that does so much for our community.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I saw this on Lewiston Rocks’ Facebook page and want to be sure folks see it that aren’t on social media: Alter L/A Emergency Warming Center helped my stepson through a bad time recently. A friend convinced him to contact me and now he is safe with family members and headed in the right direction.
This center has welcomed over 500 unique guests through their doors. On average, they are serving 112 individuals every 24 hours, providing warmth, safety and stability when it’s needed most.
This impact goes beyond their walls. By offering a safe, warm place to stay, they are keeping vulnerable individuals off the streets, reducing exposure to dangerous weather conditions, helping reduce crime and public disturbances, strengthening overall community safety and well-being. — No name, Lewiston
ANSWER: When people have a safe place to go, everyone benefits. The post goes on to thank the staff, volunteers, partners, and community supporters who make this lifesaving work possible. Together, we are making a real difference.
We are fortunate to be able to have this kind of support to offer to those who need it. Thank you to everyone in the community who steps up and offers to help.
