LIVERMORE — The Annual 9-Hole Golf Course Challenge took place on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 at Maple Lane Golf Course.

The teams were made up of 12 men and four women from each course. In some cases, one member played on Saturday while another member from that course played the final day. The teams competed in a net match play format. Two players from each club teed off on Saturday, playing alternate shot on the first nine and scramble on the second nine.

Of the 24 points available after the first round, Oakdale Country Club had earned 8.5 points, Maple Lane Golf Course had earned 8 and Wilson Lake Country Club had earned 7.5.

Sunday’s format had two players from each team teeing off playing best ball of 2 on the first nine and individual on the second nine. With four groups and four points still out on the course, the difference between Oakdale and Wilson Lake was just 3.5 points.

The final results of the Annual 9-holf Golf Coures Challenge resulted in Oakdale Country Club being awarded the coveted travelling trophy for them to proudly display for a year. Oakdale finished with 37.5 poins. Second place with a score of 36 went to Wilson Lake Country Club, and third place with a score of 22.5 went to Maple Lane.

Maple Lane Golf Course team consisted of: James St. Jean, Rick Carlton, Rob Donald, Ryan Wilkins, Joel Turcotte, Larry Melcher, Tom Bell, Bob Ring, Bill Harlow, Dick Heald, Dennis Fetterhoff, Dick Frazier, Sue Clary, Lorraine Carlton, Carol Nichols and Karen Bor.

Next year’s event will be hosted at Oakdale on Sept. 22 and 23, 2012.
