NEW SHARON — A celebration of the life of Ruth Crockett Webster was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, from the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, with the Rev. John Tolman Sr. officiating. Donna Whittemore and Linda Lee, on acoustic guitars, played and sang Jeremy Slate’s “Just Beyond the Moon.” A family eulogy was given by her daughter, Betty W. Harris. Memories of Ruth as a sister, mother, grandmother and friend were given by members of the family and the congregation, followed by Donna Whittemore and Linda Lee leading the congregation in a rendition of “Good Night Irene.” The Rev. Tolman recited the poem “From the Bridge,” author unknown, and Donna and Linda played and sang the Albert Brumley tune titled “I’ll Fly Away.” A video tribute edited by her son, Maynard Webster, was played, concluding with the Louis Armstrong rendition of “What a Wonderful World.” The Rev. Tolman offered a closing prayer, and those gathered were invited to attend a comfort reception at the center. The following morning, her family gathered at 9:30 a.m. for words of committal and reflective prayer at the sacred burial ground at the Village Cemetery, New Sharon.
