ennis St. Pierre, a Lewiston native who has performed at local and international venues, will entertain Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s in Lewiston. He will perform with an orchestra and featured vocalists beginning at 7 p.m. at the center located at Cedar and Oxford streets.
St. Pierre has given concerts in St. Louis, Atlanta, Detroit, Utah, and California as well as in Denmark, Italy, Greece, France and Switzerland. His musical theater credits include playing Ravenal in “Showboat,” Simon Stride in “Jekyll and Hyde,” Archibald Craven in “Secret Garden,” and Don Quixote in “Man of La Mancha.”
While in New York City, St. Pierre had the opportunity to work with Elaine Stritch and helped create the role of John Brooke in the new musical version of “Little Women.” On television, he has appeared in “The Practice,” “Ally McBeal” and “NYPD Blue.”
Besides touring and his Off-Broadway credits, he played the opera tenor Enrico in “The Phantom of the Opera” while in Europe.
For the Feb. 15 performance, St. Pierre has been collaborating with Colin Britt, a student with majors in compositon and conducting at the Hart School of Music. Britt has been an active member of Lewiston-Auburn’s Community Little Theatre with multiple credits as a performer and a musical director. Last May, the Androscoggin Community Orchestra premiered his composition “One Day in September,” written to commemorate the September 11 tragedy.
Under Britt’s musical direction, St. Pierre will sing popular selections from Broadway musicals, including “Chicago,” “Cats,” “Les Miserables,” “Evita,” “‘My Fair Lady” and many more.
St. Pierre will be accompanied by featured soloist, Danielle Sabine, a senior at Leavitt Area High School, who’s becoming a popular vocalist in the community. She has theater credits at Community Little Theatre and the All-Student Theatre Project. She has sung the national anthem for the Portland Sea Dogs. At the Feb. 15 concert, she will sing “‘Don’t Cry for Me” from “Evita,” “I Could Have Danced” from “My Fair Lady” and many more popular Broadway selections.
The musical event is geared toward the entire family. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $18 at Hannaford Supermarkets in Lewiston and Auburn; they will be sold for $20 at the door. For more information, call 783-1585.
