NEWRY — Knights of Columbus Rev. Louis J. Fortier Council 106 recently attended the Maine State Knights of Columbus 2016 State Convention at Sunday River ski resort.

Council 106 was presented with two awards at a banquet.

The first was for the family social event that honored 29 Knights with awards for more than 1,500 years of combined service.

The second was the Supreme Award, presented for the Member Memorial Mass held at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul that invited the family members of 18 Knights who died last year. There were 110 in attendance at the Mass.

Grand Knight Leo Baillargeon and his wife Gail received the Maine State Knights of Columbus Family of the Year Award. The couple’s children and grandchildren surprised them at the banquet.
