Library memories sought for 90th anniversary
WEST PARIS — The Friends of the West Paris Public Library are very busy planning a celebration to honor the library’s 90th anniversary.
The Arthur L. Mann Memorial Library, the original “little castle,” was dedicated in the fall of 1926. Its constant service to the community will be honored at the Light Up the Castle Party at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9.
A special part of the event will be the sharing of library memories. The Friends are currently seeking contributions to a memory book, including memories from children. These memories can be historical or current, funny or touching.

Pumpkin bowling, eyeball hunt at festival
HARRISON — Harrison Recreation and Harrison Youth Boosters will host the 2016 Halloween Festival from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Harrison Fire Station.
The event will feature cookie decorating, pumpkin bowling and worm bobbing, as well as an eyeball hunt, an arts and crafts table, a pumpkin ring toss, a cupcake walk, an eyeball bounce, a game of pin the spider on the web, a coin toss, refreshments and prizes.
This free festival is geared for children 12 and younger accompanied by an adult.

Trunk or Treat in West Paris
WEST PARIS — West Paris Baptist Church will host a safe option for children to trick or treat at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, in the church parking lot on Church Street.
During Trunk or Treat, car trunks will hold treats for the kids.
Chesterville Town Halloween Party
CHESTERVILLE — The Free Chesterville Town Halloween Party will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Chesterville Town Office.
The party will include food, games, a craft table, a costume parade, haunted barn, hayride and more.

Rumford Seniors Halloween lunch
PERU — A Halloween lunch will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Rumford Seniors Center.
Costumes are welcome. The cost is $7 per person or $6 per member.
Land trust seeking public comment
BRIDGTON — A public comment period is now open as part of Loon Echo Land Trust’s accreditation process.
The Land Trust Alliance Commission, the accrediting body, will accept signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Loon Echo Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs.

Vendors sought for Buckfield fair
BUCKFIELD — The Nezinscot Valley Music Boosters are seeking vendors for the Nezinscot Valley 2016 Holiday Fair set from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Buckfield Junior/Senior High School.
Cost is $20 for a six- by eight-foot space or $10 for student groups. Vendors should bring their own tables.
There will be live music throughout the day with complimentary coffee and lunch available.

Adopt a Family program needs donors
LEWISTON — Safe Voices is seeking donors for its Christmas Adopt a Family program to assist families who are struggling because of domestic violence.
Safe Voices is the domestic violence resource center serving Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties.
For parents and children who have had to flee a dangerous situation at home or who have started over and are struggling to make ends meet, donors can help provide a happy holiday in difficult times. The Adopt a Family program matches donors with families to provide gifts for the holiday season.
The generosity of donors is needed now more than ever as the difficulties that families face due to domestic violence are compounded by tough economic times. Anyone can be a donor, including individuals, businesses and community organizations.
