ORLAND (AP) – A head-on collision involving two pickup trucks left one motorist dead and a second behind bars.

Robert Florence, 53, of Orland, was killed instantly in the Monday afternoon crash on Route 175, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said.

Deputies said Florence was headed south when a pickup driven by Scott Ring, 29, of Castine, crossed the centerline and struck his vehicle head-on.

Ring, who was treated at the scene for minor injuries, was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence and taken to the Hancock County Jail. Officials said other charges could be forthcoming once the investigation is completed.
