FARMINGTON – The SAD 9 Music Department has announced the March “Music in Our Schools Month” concert series. All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. in the Mt. Blue High School gym and are free and open to the public.
In the event of weather cancellation, a concert will be rescheduled for Wednesday, March 25, same time and place.
String Celebration will be held on Wednesday, March 18, under the direction of Nancy Beacham and Steven Muise. Included are the district elementary fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade orchestras, Mt. Blue Middle School orchestra, Mt. Blue High School orchestra and the Franklin County Fiddlers.
Band-a-rama will be held on Thursday, March 19, under the direction of Karen Beacham and Darryl Pike. Included in this concert are the district fifth- and sixth-grade bands, the Mt. Blue Middle School band, the Mt. Blue High School band and the Mt. Blue High School jazz band.
The district Chorus Festival will be performed on Monday, March 23, and will include the elementary fifth- and sixth-grade choruses, Mt. Blue Middle School and Mt. Blue High School choruses. Also performing will be the middle school show choir, Mt. Blue Voices and the Syncopations.
Directing the district choruses are Jane Parker, James Perkins, Lindsay Reinstein and Carol Shumway. Patricia Hayden will serve as concert accompanist.
Following each concert the Mt. Blue Music Boosters will sell Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream in the high school cafeteria. Proceeds from the ice cream sale will go toward the Boosters scholarship program. Applications for summer scholarships will be available at the ice cream social.
