Bank donates $5,000 to Child Health Center

OXFORD – Norway Savings Bank has announced that it has donated $5,000 to the Child Health Center for its new child care program. The funds will be used for the purchase of computers for the preschool and before- and after-school care rooms.

The Child Health Center was located on Main Street in Norway for more than 30 years and just recently relocated to Madison Avenue in Oxford.

The center’s mission is to improve the lives of children and families by providing the care, knowledge, skills and resources that help them achieve their goals in life.

The nonprofit organization provides child care for infants up to the sixth grade, preschool, developmental therapy preschool, parent education and the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. The center also operates a location in Auburn and serves River Valley and southern Franklin County.

“The Oxford Hills area is very lucky to have a resource like the Child Health Center in our community,” said John Griffith, vice president and loan officer with Norway Savings Bank and president of the board of directors of the Child Health Center.

“The Child Health Center is a great place for local children to go during the day or after school where they will grow, learn and be safe. I am very excited that Norway Savings Bank has been able to help the center work toward meeting the goal of its capital campaign. The computers will be a valuable, educational resource for the children who come to the center,” he said.
