Tree of Caring project kicks off at vets’ home
PARIS – The annual Tree of Caring event is again under way at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Paris. The project is sponsored by the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee.
Bulbs can be purchased for $5 each and can be in honor of someone or in memory of that person. All proceeds from the Tree of Caring support the activities and special needs of the home residents. Supporting the activities program is the sole mission of the committee.
A listing of those persons the bulbs have been purchased for is displayed in the lobby of the facility from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. The official lighting of the tree will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the home. The public is invited.
Bulbs can be purchased at the home or by mailing a donation and information to Richard Young, 159 Paris Hill Road, South Paris, ME. 04281. For more information, call the facility at 743-6300.
