AUBURN – Central Maine Community College Corporate and Community Services will offer a workshop on personal finance, “Personal Financial Planning” (CED 002-21) from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, March 7, 14 and 21. The cost is $55 a person.

Personal financial planning can help people reach long- and short-term goals. The workshop will cover the importance of setting up an emergency fund, the steps to getting out of debt, how to establish and structure funds for retirement and ways to save for big purchases such as college expenses.

Strategies for paying off “bad debt” and how “good debt” can work will also be covered.

The workshop will be facilitated by Van Perry, a regional vice president and commercial loan officer in the Lewiston-Auburn area. He has been in the commercial lending field for more than 16 years and is a consultant to small businesses.
