Haruka Fujimaki of Bryant Pond has begun her first year at Mount Holyoke College of South Hadley, Mass., the oldest institution of higher education for women in the United States.

Fujimaki is the daughter of Tsunenori and Miriam Fujimaki of Bryant Pond and is a graduate of North Yarmouth Academy. An accomplished clarinetist, Fujimaki was a member of several musical groups, including the high school band, jazz band, steel band and wind ensemble. She also played varsity volleyball and volunteered her time at a local elementary school, assisting the gym teacher. Fujimaki hopes to pursue her interest in conservation ecology while at Mount Holyoke.
