AUBURN – Doug Hoyt, executive director of the United Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, met recently with three seniors from Edward Little High School to receive an update on their fund-raising activities for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. At the meeting were Danielle Ramon, Kim Preble and Vanessa Ouellette.
The school recently held a garage sale, hat and jeans days, several bake sales and bottle and can collections. Donation jars are set up throughout the school.
The final week of events will include a school-wide assembly on Wednesday, Sept. 28, featuring a Power-Point presentation on Hurricane Katrina and relief efforts.
The assembly also will include a “Mardi Gras” celebration – titled “L/A Helping LA” – led by teacher Carole Wise.
The class has set a goal of $2,500, and organizers expect to exceed that amount. Graphic arts teacher John Vaughan-Carr designed special commemorative T-shirts for the fund-raisers.
For more information about making donations to the effort, one may call Assistant Principal Steve Galway at 783-8528.
