LEWISTON — A Sabattus man escaped serious injury Thursday when the vehicle he was driving slammed into a utility pole, halting traffic on Sabattus Street for hours.
Normand Dubois, 78, was driving a 2007 Ford pickup truck shortly after 1:30 a.m. when it struck the pole between Old Greene Road and Stanley Street, police said.
Dubois was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries before being released.
The utility pole sustained significant damage and Central Maine Power Company was dispatched to the scene, police said.
Sabattus Street was reopened to traffic by 8 a.m.
