DIXFIELD — Dirigo High School will be host to the Theater at Monmouth players on Tuesday, Nov. 9. The theater company will set up and perform on the stage in the Student Community Center. In the morning the players will engage students in a series of theater workshops in the library and cafeteria. The full dress performance of Shakespeare’s play “The Comedy of Errors” will begin at 12:20 p.m.
The play features a cast of eight professional actors, directed by TAM Producing Director David Greenham, and is presented in Maine as part of the National Endowment for the Arts’ Shakespeare for a New Generation program.
It is funded at Dirigo High School by a grant from the UMF Partnerships for Success/GEAR UP project. Partnerships for Success is a program of the University of Maine at Farmington that provides college access and readiness to young people in three school districts located in West Central Maine.
It is the third time that Dirigo High School has been able to sponsor a professional Shakespearean play for the student body. In 2007, the Theater at Monmouth presented Romeo and Juliet and in 2008, they produced Macbeth.
