Vote 'no' on school budget
A well-organized effort to push through a flat-funded school budget succeeded Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Farmington. A vocal majority at a well-attended meeting voted to operate the school district at the same budget level as last year. The total voted is $980,173 less than that recommended by the Board of Directors, and largely represents fixed […]
Say 'no' to bloated budget
“It takes a school to bankrupt a town” — gee, I loved that rather crudely written sign along Route 2 as the second vote came due on RSU 9’s million and a-half dollar increase. I believe that conscientious citizens are doing a great service to the town of Farmington and to the school districts across […]
Weighted vote is undemocratic
For some unknown reason, RSD 9 residents have allowed weighted voting. Weighted voting is described as a system where one vote carries the “weight” of many votes. Support the elementary school
On Tuesday, May 30, Andover residents will gather at the Town Hall to vote on the school budget. It is imperative that citizens vote for the budget presented by the School Board. There is a group of people in Andover who wish to close the elementary school just to save money. That would mean that […]

More SAD 17 students getting meals
PARIS — The SAD 17 board of directors was told at its meeting Monday that the school district is feeding more children and teachers are seeing less-stressed students taking tests. However, following the presentation by Food Service Director Jodi Truman, several directors questioned why the state test results have not improved as a result of […]

Among the factors are raises for over 500 employees, building supplies, a part-time prekindergarten teacher, an English Language Learner teacher, an educational technician at Edward Little High School and a new bus. What does Auburn […]
