LEWISTON — Carl Klimpt found a seam in the Bates defense and whipped a shot past Bobcats goalie Mark Dobbyn with 1:31 remaining in the extra session to give Bowdoin a 9-8 men’s lacrosse win Tuesday.

Connor Fitzgerald tallied two goals and two assists for Bowdoin, while Klimpt scored a pair of goals.

Ted Scholhamer, Kyle Courtiss, Ford Barker, Micah Moreau and Chris Eaton each scored for the Polar Bears. Scott Duddy,

Mark Boccard and Brad Frost led Bates with two goals apiece.

Matt Bognacki and David Fritchard each netted a goal.

Grant White collected 13 saves. Dobbyn turned away seven shots for Bates.

Baseball Bowdoin 9, UMass-Boston 2

BRUNSWICK — First baseman Tom McMahon knocked out home runs in the fifth and seventh innings to lead the Bowdoin baseball team to a 9-2 victory over UMass-Boston.

Andrew DeMarco homered, while Kevin Bougie hit a RBI double in the sixth inning to really cement the win for the Polar Bears (10-11)

Andy Workman worked six innings to pick up the win for Bowdoin.

Scott Boruchow, Erik Morrison and Livermore Falls product Travis Dube combined for three innings of one-hit relief.

Colby 6, Husson 4

BANGOR — Kevin Brunelle went 4-for-5 with four RBIs to power Colby to a 6-4 victory over Husson.

Senior right-hander Owen Kenney pitched the first five innings and allowed only one run in improving to 2-1 this season.

B.L. Lippert added two hits and Tyler Silvestro had an RBI single for the Mules.

Jason Folsom led Husson with three hits.

USM 20, Endicott 3

GORHAM –Josh Watkins drove in five runs, Tyler Delorme knocked in four and Andy Lang added three RBIs as the Southern Maine Huskies erupted for 23 hits, including nine for extra bases, and downed Endicott 20-4.

Drew Palmer hit an RBI triple, while Adam Lemieux stroked an RBI double.

Southern Maine received at least one hit from 12 players, and multiple hits from seven players. Lang became the ninth player in school history to stroke two triples in a game.

Jason Thibodeau surrendered five hits and two earned runs over six innings to earn the win.

Pat Vincent paced Endicott, collecting three hits, including a triple, and scoring a run.

Peter Norke stroked a two-run homer.
