Strawberry festival

LIVERMORE – The Washburn-Norlands Living History Center will hold its annual Strawberry Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 28. The event is named for the strawberry shortcake made by Livermore Falls Baptist Church members. Tours of the historic buildings and hay rides will be available, as well as craft demonstrations and sales, an antique farm equipment display, music, an Auburn Rescue Service demonstration and a family area featuring face painting and games. Light lunches will be available at the grill from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the grounds will be $1 for anyone age 2 and older, and free for kids under 2. Tours, rides, games and food will be priced separately.

Audubon trip

EUSTIS – Western Maine Audubon Society will sponsor a day of birding and canoeing at Flagstaff Lake on Sunday, June 29. Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the entrance to Cathedral Pines Campground on Route 27 and join bird enthusiast Wendy Howes for a guided birding and canoe trip. Participants must provide their own canoe and gear. It is suggested that participants also bring a lunch, as well as drinking water and adequate equipment for light walking and leisurely canoeing. The cost of the trip is $10 for Audubon members and $15 for non-members. The group size is limited to 15 people. To reserve a spot or to check on weather conditions or possible cancellation, people can call field-trip coordinator Andrea Nurse at 639-4496.
