BYRON – The Byron Historical Society will serve its annual Hunters Breakfast at the Coos Canyon Schoolhouse from 5 to 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The event on opening day for Maine residents has taken place for nearly eight years. Cost is $4 per plate.

Town Clerk Rose White said the historical society is still looking for volunteers to help whip up pancakes, eggs, sausage and other traditional breakfast foods. Those interested in helping out may call the town office at 364-3194.

Funds raised from the annual gathering go toward projects sponsored by the historical society, which include making improvements to the schoolhouse. The society also gives $50 to each Mountain Valley High School graduate from Byron.

Mexico: Library gets first Web site

MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library has its first Web site to better inform residents about the goings-on at the library as well as to keep them updated on the books and videos available to borrow.

Brian Phelps of Rumford designed the site, which came online Thursday.

Besides the periodic listings of new books for both children and adults, the site provides information on story times for youngsters and the adult book group, fund-raising activities such as the current candle sale, and a variety of information about the Main Street library.

The Web site is the most recent addition to the library. Recently, three computers for use by the public were added.

The Web site address is: www.mexico.lib.me.us
