ANDOVER – The Historical Society’s open house that was scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26, has been canceled.

Kids, teens can get ski passes

RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine will have a scholarship program for season passes for the 2005 ski season. To make this possible, Black Mountain and the community are pulling resources together to make sure every child who needs a season pass, yet can’t afford one, doesn’t get left out.

Organizers say they hope to have enough passes for everyone. However, if more applications are received than there are passes, a committee will determine who receives the passes, based on content in their letters.

Children ages 6-16 from the River Valley can write a letter – no e-mails or faxes will be accepted – of 300 to 500 words on how they can make a difference in their community and how a season pass at Black Mountain would have an impact on them. Letters should be sent to Black Mountain of Maine, Terrie Anne Bennett, General Manager, P.O. Box 296, Rumford ME 04276-0296.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Nov. 12. All pass recipients will be notified by Friday, Nov. 26.
