ACWORTH, N.H. (AP) – The former town clerk is facing charges relating to nearly $225,000 missing from her office.

Brenda Longley, the clerk for 27 years, resigned in August saying she had no idea what happened.

Town officials initially noticed that about $6,800 was missing, but further investigation showed major discrepancies in vehicle registration records, fees and marriage license records over 18 years.

Longley has been indicted by a Sullivan County grand jury, but officials said the number of indictments, their nature and the dollar amounts in question would be sealed until today.
