PARIS – A record number of people turned out to celebrate the ninth year of Vital Connections, the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program at Stephens Memorial Hospital in late February.

More than 200 guests, including staff, participants and graduates of the program and their spouses, were treated to fare provided by Joel Kane and entertainment by Maine humorist Joe Perham at the Four Seasons Banquet Center in South Paris.

“The overwhelming amount of people that are here to celebrate this anniversary demonstrates the achievement of the program and the dedication of its staff,” said Tim Ingram, director of clinical diagnostics at Stephens.

Vital Connections provides cardiac rehabilitation to people who have had a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, angioplasty or heart valve surgery and pulmonary rehabilitation to people with chronic lung disease.

The program includes an exercise and an education component in a supervised and monitored environment. Classes are offered throughout the year and prospective patients must be referred to the program by their physician.

Anyone who would like more information about the rehab program may call 743-5933, ext. 780.
