NORWAY – The Stone-Smart Post 82, American Legion, installed officers recently.

Post Americanism Officer Robert Sessions presented Marilyn Jones, widow of Richard Jones, with medals that Jones had earned during the Korean War and had never received. The medals presented to her were the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal.

After that, Legion officers were installed by Department Commander Gene Bickford, assisted by Past Department Commander Guard Enman, installing sergeant-at-arms; Lester Prue, department chaplain, as installing chaplain; and Robert Owens, department service officer, as installing service officer.

Those installed were: commander, Randall Henley; first vice commander, George Tibbetts; second vice commander, Arnold Pendexter; finance officer, Ralph Moulton; adjutant, Leland Millett; service officer and Americanism officer, Robert Sessions; chaplain, John Morgan; historian, David Tilley; and sergeant-at-arms, Erland Twitchell.

Henley conducted the meeting and thanked the installing officers for the good job they did.

Building Committee Chairman Ralph Moulton gave an update on the purchase of new tables and chairs. Moulton said 13 tables and 81 chairs had been bought and are in use. He thanked everyone who had donated. Moulton also suggested that any extra money from the project be put into a fund to redo the upstairs floor. The members unanimously approved the suggestion.

Delegates named to state convention are Randall Henley, Ernest Clifford and Neal Hansen; alternates, Robert Sessions and Leland Millett.

Those named to serve on the Executive Committee with the post officers are Gene Bickford, Larry Labossiere, Lloyd Herrick, Christopher Boyce and Ernest Clifford.

A committee was named to make sure the flags were flown at half mast when directed by the United States president or the Maine governor. Volunteering for the committee were Arnold Pendexter, Lee Millett and David Tilley.
